How do electronic smoking devices work?
Electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes (from here on just referred to as vaping devices) consist of 2 components: a battery, and an atomizer. When the device is powered the atomizer coil vaporizes the e-liquid or material into a smoke like vapor. The vapor is then inhaled into the mouth and lungs simulating a smoking experience.
How are electronic cigarettes switched on?
Some switch on automatically when the atomizer detects air being drawn into the electronic device. (Auto Draw) There are others devices that feature buttons that turned on and off by clicking the button 5 times in succession, 5 clicks on 5 clicks off.
Can I smoke electronic cigarettes anywhere?
Vaping should be treated as smoking in regards to where you can vape. If its not ok to smoke, chances are its not ok to vape. Always be considerate.
Does electronic cigarette vapor smell?
The aroma of vaporized e-liquid is usually pleasant and will smell like the various flavors it comes in from fruit flavored to beverage and pastry flavors.
Are electronic cigarettes healthier than regular cigarettes?
Manufacturers and suppliers of electronic cigarettes technically are not permitted to market electronic cigarettes as healthy or healthier than regular cigarettes. You must look at the facts currently available about vaping and regular tobacco cigarettes and form your own opinion. The American Cancer Society recognizes vaping and e-cigarettes as less harmful than smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes.
Is Vaping or E-Cigarettes an FDA approved smoking cessation method?
Not yet. While many people have partially or totally quit by using a vape device, the proper testing and research has not been done. The American Cancer Society has said, “Based on currently available evidence, using current generation e-cigarettes is less harmful than smoking cigarettes.” Manufacturers and suppliers are not allowed to market electronic cigarettes as nicotine replacement therapies like the patch and the gum. Electronic cigarettes may only be marketed as an alternative to smoking until more testing and research has been done.
Do I have to be a legal age to purchase and use electronic cigarettes?
No one under the legal smoking age in your country or state should use any electronic smoking device. Always obey local laws.
Can I use electronic cigarettes if I am pregnant?
Electronic cigarettes and vape devices should NOT be used by anyone who is pregnant, nursing or has other serious health concerns without first consulting with a physician.
What is E-juice or E-liquid?
E-juice, also called E-liquid, is the primary material used in e-cigarettes/vape devices and may or may not contain nicotine. E-liquids usually contain combinations of the following ingredients, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and food grade flavorings. There are a variety of e-liquids available on the market, and you can find flavors ranging from the most basic fruity flavors to some very complex flavors such as desserts, candies, and so on. Unlike the smoke of a traditional tobacco cigarette, most e-liquids produce vapor with a pleasant aroma. Ingestion of eliquid can be poisonous. Always use vape devices as intended and instructed in the packaging that they were purchased with.
What is nicotine?
Nicotine is an alkaloid found in certain plants, predominantly tobacco, and in lower concentrations in tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, cauliflower, green peppers and some teas. When absorbed in small amounts, whether from cigarettes, cigars or or e cigs, nicotine can cause a feeling of relaxation, calmness, and alertness. The effects of nicotine can last from minutes to hours, and nicotine is considered habit forming and addictive.
Does nicotine cause cancer?
It is widely believe that nicotine does not cause cancer by the medical community. Nicotine research is on-going and the medical research has found some advantages and disadvantages of nicotine consumption. Determine through your own research if nicotine alone is harmful to your health.
Are there any safety concerns I should be aware of regarding electronic cigarettes?
Electronic cigarettes should only be used by adults of the local legal age, not by children, pregnant women, women breast feeding, or persons with or at risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or taking medicine for depression or asthma. Consult a physician if you experience nicotine misuse symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, weakness and rapid heartbeat. If you smoke tobacco products, you are encouraged to stop. Keep electronic cigarette products out of the reach of children and pets. Ingestion of pieces can present a choking hazard and ingestion of the non-vaporized concentrated ingredients in the cartridges can be poisonous. Misuse of any e-cigarette or vape battery can result in injury.
What is CBD?
CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol, a naturally occurring (non-psychoactive) compound found in high concentration in the cannabis plant. Recently, research has shown CBD to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety properties.
